No magic in the antenna Richard, basically it's just a piece of wire that the radio waves
cross over inducing a very small voltage in the wire.
I've gotten Toronto, Canada down in my basement here in Sandwich, IL on all of the half
dozen AD radios that I've restored in the past few years. All I've got under ground for an
antenna is a length of #22ga. wire stapled up across a few floor joists
You obviously have an open somewhere in the antenna lead.
