If you are talking about the RH-5 rims then I have never heard/read/seen ANYBODY that thinks they are a good idea to even use at all. These are the rims that split around the rim down the center...think cut bagel.
The locking ring rims are perfectly safe to run and work on as long as they are in good shape and you know how to work on them. The locking ring rims can kill you if you put them together incorrectly and try airing them up. All 20" rims you see on classic trucks are locking ring.
