Denny, the early,('50 to sometime in '51) Rochs. used that discharge guide you speak of. They did some redesigns of the carb then, including thicker flanges where the bowl halves come together. I vaguely remember coming across it when I rebuilt one of the old style ones, but it's been a few years and I don't remember exactly what I did.
