Some times the drive on rebuilt starters are not any good. I like to use new drives. It,s a one way clutch & if it slips inside it sounds like teeth grinding or sometimes just whirls & doesn,t turn the engine. Your switch on top the starter may be starting the motor too soon & not engauging the flywheel.
