Of your two choices, I vote for the 'floppy float'. If your throttle return spring is weak, you can actually pump the gas pedal with your foot as the truck jumps up and down and not be aware of it. This will of course flood the poor old thing. Watch your mirrors when this happens...black smoke is the clue.
