Stark, 6-volt electric pumps are pretty common in the flathead world, as they tend to have an issue with vapor lock. These can easily be purchased through JC Whitney.
From some of the posts I received on the Early Ford V-8 site, it sounds like there are typically two types. Those with a diaphram and a gear driven version. The diaphram type pumps are blieved to deteriorate with the use of Alcohol blended fuels, (which we have to run in Colorado). When this happens, the diaphram turns into black goo and begins to clog up the fuel system.
Another party responded with the theory that I should check the fuel pressure as FLA54 suggested. (I have an inline regulator, but have never checked the actual pressure.) This gentlemen suggested that the pressure needed to be below 3 psi on a flathead. Anything over that would be too much fuel for the car.
This coupled with the fact that I'm running blended gas, and the car was running hot, could be the problem.
So guess what I'll be doing this weekend?
