This is out of my '38 coupe. The top and bottom are the same with the filler neck being different depending on the model. You can see the spots for the outlet(s) on either side of the sending unit hole. This is the fuel outlet valve for my coupe. As for getting the remains of your old one out, I really can't help because I've not had to do that. It's probably "glued" in by a lot of old gas varnish and general all around rust & crud. I'm surprised an easy out wouldn't do the trick. If it's varnish from old gas that has it stuck some carb cleaner might soften it enough to free it up (just a guess). Good luck.
