I bet it will sound great if you put the right exhaust system on it.
Going V-8 is a little more work than a six. Most the old truck venders offer V-8 and transmission crossmembers. Don't ususally cost a whole lot.
The biggest problem with this swap is the interferrence fit between the steering and the exhaust. You can move the steering box out to fix that, or convert to power steering using one of the kits available.
