I did the swap last week. 4.10 locker from a 72 service fleet vehicle for a lumber company.
Filthy mess! the cover had been open for a while I guess but when I took it all apart I discovered it had brand new bearings all through it!
It was a quick swap, with the trickiest part getting the third member on and off the jack. a bit of juggling was involved.
I recommend doing the u joints while you are there. Mine were pretty rough and I found the yoke was twisted out of shape.
anyway the swap is simple and the noise level drops to acceptable levels in the cab!
