"Something simple"....with should include convenient, reliable, and 100% functional. I traveled down this same road and discovered that the original latch assembly did not lend itself well to adapting an inside release. Secondly, with a solid chin pan you may find yourself weilding a sawzall when your cable rig malfunctions!!!!

Thankfully, my concerns for a remote release were for security reasons and someone on the bolt had already added a couple simple pieces to the stock latch assembly so that a padlock could be added. I trust s search for "hood lock" should turn up the pictures. If your concerns are for security you might consider this as a "simple" alternative.
