It's FUBAR'ed! One field coil is totally shot, will need re-bushing and probably a good clean-up at least on the armature. Solenoid's fine though as is the pinion gear and the rest of the nose cone.

I hear what you're saying about the different noses, that was my guess too hence the request for more info in "what fits what".

Forgive my ignorance please; I presume the 409 is a Chevy engine, what sort of year were they fitted?
