What I don't understand is having to modify the cap. Cutting the tab and turning the cap on the distributor tells me the cap hole is slightly out of sync with the point plate. And I just can't understand how that could happen.
If the plate were correct, then modifying the cap would put it out of sync instead of correcting the problem.
I haven't had a chance to look at my old distributor yet.
