All,
First, let me again thank everyone for their information and feedback. Much appreciated.
It's clear that I have the incorrect distributor in the 61 235 engine in my 52 3100 truck although I'm still not sure if this is what is causing my rotor to be out of alignment with the distributor cap when the #1 cylinder is at TDC.
It was mentioned in a post or two that if you use the early distributor (I have a 48-50 unit from a 216 engine) that you must use the later distributor gear. I haven't pulled the distributor in my truck and if I did, not sure I could tell if it was the older gear or not. Regardless, would this explain why the rotor is out of alignment or is the later model distributor gear requirement just because of metal differences?
In the process of looking for a 1112403 distributor to have on hand just-in case.
Many thanks,
Ron
