Welcome Marc, you shouldn't ever expect to sell it for what you paid for it. If you manage that, it's a bonus. This is a hobby, nothing more. It's like spending money to go to an auto race or sports event, you had a good time and the money is gone. Was it worth it?
If you aren't too sure about the nice red truck, leave it. There are more fish in the sea. In my opinion, the choice of engine/tranny was a poor one.
