OK, one more time- - - - -does it have a generator (1 foot long, skinny, with a stepped-down back end and about 4" in diameter), or an alternator (about 7" in diameter and 5" from front to back)? It makes a huge difference in the wiing and the voltage regulation process!

1962/63 was about the time General Motors switched from generators to alternators.
