If you used the metallic color inside you may have to remove all the clear. If it is a solid color you can scuff the clear with as fine as 800-1000 grit and apply more base to that, then re-clear. That is what the pros told me and it seemed to work for me. Maybe you can get away with that technique with metallics too in the location you need to fix but someone more experienced will have to address that.
