How tough of a job is this to actually do? Is it more of a pain to get the thing out or to actually do the rebuild of the gear box? What could I find inside the box that would tell me I need to do more than just a simple job on it?
You are correct that removeing it is more work then the o-haul. If you get it open & find the gears running dry on grease & scored, it is time to find another box, but most of the time a kit with bushings brgs & seals will fix it up. Dont try to take the ball nut apart. If it is rough get another one.
