Interesting. Both my GMC and Chevrolet shop manuals clearly show a cutaway of the clutch assembly with the raised or elongated hub of the disc facing towards the flywheel. I went down to my truck and placed the disc up against the flywheel. There is definitely room for the hub to fit totally within the recess in the center of the flywheel.
