I'm pretty sure it's the pump because I put the old one back on and it ran fine. But you're right, seems like that always happens. I'm not sure why the new pump won't keep up at speed. I'd like to take it apart and find out, but I don't think I'd get my refund back. Thanks for the tips though, help is always appreciated.
