thanks for the comeback,.so they did use a different flywheel when they went to 12v in mid year 55.i knew something was wrong.i wonder if the 12v flywheel would bolt up to my 54 year? if not then i will do the six volt starter on the 12 volt system.but should i go to a 12 volt solenioid? thanks again.things aren't as cloudy as they were. rodc66
