Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 15 | i cannot figure this one out guys, i have a 50 3/4 ton truck, and i have a 54 motor 235. iam going to a 12 volt system with a 12v starter. i ordered aring gear for the flywheel 168 tooth and it is to big to fit.i bought it from lmc truck, and they said it was for a 55 and up.so are the flywheels diffrent from 546v to 55 and up 12v ? inliner thanks for any info.
really like the stovebolt site. not the sharpest file in the drawer when it comes to computors. better at rebuilding parts. hope im in thanks guys rodC66
| | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy rodC66, welcome, according to my Canadian parts book, the 55A or first series, and the 55B or second series flywheels have different part numbers, of course it doesn't tell me how they are different, just that they have different part numbers. The flywheel ring gears of course will have different part numbers, due to the different pitch between the six and twelve volt ring gears. One thing you might consider, use your six volt starter on twelve volts, it won't hurt the starter as long as you don't have to crank the snot out of it to get it started, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | The OD is different on 6 and 12 volt flywheels for the gear. Most people run the 6 volt set-up on 12 volts.
