yes the 4 speed is very heavy and needs to be pulled separately, good idea is to support it thru the floor hole, like using an engine crane poked in the door, shift'er back and lower it ... myself, I'd consider replacing it with a 3 speed while it's all apart, not too hard .... no need to remove parts before the engine is out, except the fan and water pump will make it easier to clear the core support if you're not taking off the front
