I concur the CG is better up close to the vertical support.
The bell housing definitely pushes the CG farther out, the depth of the housing. I extended the legs on my stand to compensate.
Actually this has worked for me, since I used the flywheel to turn the engine for putting in the pistons and setting up my timing. I was more concerned with the strength of the bolts holding onto the bell housing...
I DO appreciate your concern. Pray for me, I'm almost finished with the entire assembly!
