The 1958 model Chevy school bus I rode to high school in the early 1960's had a a switch like that. I remember the key being in the straight-up position with the engine running, and the finger tab hanging down below it. The bus was a 6-cylinder 4-speed model with a stomp start, probably had a 261 engine. They called it a "58-passenger" but we crammed about 70 kids on it, some standing up in the aisle for half the ride. I rode that bus twice a day for three years, over an hour each way.
