I bought a new 1989 GMC with 5 speed and 4.3 V-6, gave it to my son to run my construction work in 1990, he kept it until 2003 when it was totalled by a semi (head on collision) and had over 400,000 miles still running good. The 4.3 is a bulletproof engine! It always got over 20 mpg. Daughter had a 1994 S-10 Blazer with 4.3 and 700R4 trans. It would almost stay up with my 350 V-8 GMC shortbed up to 80 mph. To say the least, I am impressed with the 4.3 engine it's one of the best to come out of Detroit ever.
