If you think you may have a vacuum leak there is an easly way to check. Get some carb or brake cleaner, the good stuff not water based. Start you enging and spray in samall squirts around where you would expect a vacuum leak to be. The carb base, the thru-shafts of the carb, etc. When you hit the leak with the spray the engine RPM's will pick up for several seconds. Just be careful with the carb spray as it is hard on you and fresh paint.
