there's a harness section that comes out of the firewall near the regulator and heads straight down underfoot - the brake switch wires come out of it - then it runs along the frame - under the driver there's some connectors for the rear lights - the sender wire comes off there .... an ohmmeter will be your friend, and it sounds like a complete new harness might be in order
