Its not worth the trouble, I've done repairs years ago with brazing them back together, after all the cleaning and flushing to ensure you don't blow yourself up and burn down your shop.
Is it possible to just cut a hole where the baffles attach and repair it rather than cutting the entire tank in half?
The relatively cheap cost of new tanks really doesn't make this worthwhile, you could go through all the trouble just to have it crack a week or two down the road, puke gas all over your asphalt driveway, or garage floor, and end up buying a new one anyways, really just a PITA !!
