The truck is a '39 3/3 ton JD with the tank under the seat. New tanks are available, but all are in the $350 range. And I do agree that what seems "spendy" is indeed relative to problems down the road. Yes, I do understand the dangers of whacking on a gas tank, but I was curious if anyone had successfully fixed one. Hard to tell how long the baffle has been loose. I may have driven it that way for years. I suppose it could interfer with the gauge reading, but probably not anything else. The tank may be too rusted, anyway.
'Nuther question, though. It occurred to me that I may be able to put a tank between the frame rails, and then remote the fill to the original hole. Has anyone had experience with that??
