My chev, 235, 6cyl.has been rebuilt and I have started it up. All runs great except a "thumping" noise at the base of the distributor. The dist. went in fine with the gear and tang matching good. My question is, is there an o- ring or round gasket that seats at the base of the dist.where it goes into the block? My shop manual doesn't say anything about one. Thanks.
