Howdy all.
I am working on the cab of my '66 Chevy. The drip rail right above the firewall is really rusted, as seen in these pictures:

I was planning on welding a strip of metal over the damage, but after cleaning it up and looking closer it is extremely unlikely I will get a good weld, the surrounding metal is pretty nasty.
I am halfway considering laying in a strip of fiberglass, shaped like a "u" to allow a channel for water to run down, since this area does not appear to be structural and it is very unlikely I will get a water tight seal with a metal strip.
Any suggestions?
