Okay so I started with the plugs, wires, distributor, since that was easy. No difference. Then I went to the carb adjustments again, regardless of mixture it didn't go away, but upping the idle speed helped - which is really just masking it. Onto the valves. As I was doing them, some were way off, so I was encouraged. Once I buttoned it all back up, it started up right away and was noticeably smoother, but once it got warm, the sound came back (albeit quieter). So I started messing with the throttle and observing, and I did notice I have a pretty bad exhaust leak on either #5 or #6 right where they meet, or somewhere under there and it's shooting up. Didn't notice it before, but it puffs smoke when I hit the throttle. So this could point to the same thing Dusty saw right? I need to figure out my next step. I'm pretty sure the head gasket is not the culprit based on the compression and lack of mixing fluids. I need to replace the exhaust anyway, so maybe I'll start there. I could also go with a carb rebuild...
