I am running a 350 with a700R4 OD tranny,then into the a stock 3:90 rear.Works out just fine,plenty of get up and go and 20 MPG all day long.The 283 should also work out fine with that setup.By the way my 350 is built up pretty nice,and it is mean and sassy.
