Lots of the Pitman arm/steering gear combinations have one or more wide splines which limit the location where they can be assembled. By using a 3-cornered file, the wide spline(s)in the Pitman can be modified so it can be installed at any position on the steering gear output shaft. This allows for more flexibility in positioning the Pitman arm in relation to the drag link. Jerry
