Don't change the oil in the compressor, and do get a better cord if you can, lugging it is going to burn out the motor.
An alternative would be instead of running the cord the fifty feet, can you move the compressor and run a fifty foot air line?
And maybe add an extra air pig tank in the shop and pressure drop won't be an issue.
