Put a micrometer or dial caliper on the machined diameters of distributors to compare new to old. Sometimes .001/.002" difference will keep parts from fitting properly. Diameters can fool the eye - even side by side. I keep a dial caliper handy in the garage. Good luck - let us know what you find.
