once you get it going, you should check the dwell angle.this checks the amount of time the points are open.You will need a meter for that, i'm not shure where you get them anymore.I have three of them that i get from garage sales and places like that.I use them often,one at work, one at home, one at the cabin.There are many motors around yet with points but not alot of people set the dwell on them. it makes them run a bit better as the time the points are open changes things.Tom
