I had all my parts sandblasted and even the hood turned out fine. It depends on the experience of the blaster. I don't think soda will remove stuck on rust. Woody is right that it seems that sand keeps falling out of cracks and such at a later date, but I don't agree with the chemical dip as it may leach out and ruin your paint at a later date.
