I'm sorry guys, but now I am confused. I thought since I was using this adapter plate (from hoyts link above) that I needed to buy the 216 water pump which would put the fan right where I need it? Then use the fan pulley also off my 216 with the 216 harmonic balancer.

It doesn't look like a wide belt to me. Am I missing something or do I need to buy a 235 water pump and use the 235 pulley and harmonic balancer?

Please, if its ok could you dumb it down for me?

I'm sure I could have the local shop put any type of pulley on the alternator that I need if that's the only other problem.

According to the ebay ad for the converter plate my '53 216 fan pulley and pump use the 3/8 belt. I don't think that's very wide is it?

I'm sorry guys but this is the last confusing point I think I have when it comes to making this swap work, but I just can't figure out what I need. I thought I had it before buy now I'm not so sure.

And when I've got that all figured out - I still don't have a clue what fan blade. I'm sorry I seem so confused - I feel pretty stupid right now!

Edit (Addition): Maybe I should just buy the short pump and pulley from Patrick's? I've got the 216 water pump and adapter plate priced at $105 right now anyway, and it jumps to $125 if I need the 235 water pump. Patrick's sells their short water pump and pulley kit for $140 plus shipping. Not too much difference and at least I'd know its right (plus then I assume I put the fan on that was out of the 235 or is there even a difference?) What do you think? By the way, sorry again for sounding like a broken record. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I'm learning and I do enjoy it most of the time!
