Please don't tell me to "look it up", I feel like I've been reading search material for ever. I just can't tell which applies to my situation.

I want to use a 235 water pump on my 1955 235 motor to replace my 1953 216 because I can't afford the conversion pump they sell. My brother can press and shorten the shaft.

Which water pump do I buy for the 235, they have a short and long (like four inches to five inches) or does it even matter since we're going to cut it anyway?

I read that the pulley off the 216 for the fan blade that I will press onto the 235 could be too small and will turn the pump too fast (or spin too fast), is this true or do I need a different pulley?

Do you use the harmonic balancer off the 235 or the 216?
