1956-1965 we had lots of old 215 and 235's. the rockers would be sludged and running dry clacking like mad from no oil. Don't remember ever having a broken rocker. Are all the parts right for the engine?
as a side note, There was an aftermarket stud and oil-line kit that brought oil from the side of the block to the hold-down stud on the rocker shaft.
