This thread has been going on for some time now. I actually thought Glenn had the problems figured out.

Lots of ideas being tossed around, and who knows why this is happening. I will say this...If a valve were to hit a piston with enough interference to cause a rocker arm to break, the valve would bend, and stay bent. This would be obvious and have permanent after effects.

Cutting pushrods and installing two head gaskets will further cloud the issue. This isn't a common ailment for these engines and there is a reasonable answer somewhere.
