There's nothing wrong with the lubrication system on a 216- - - -as long as the oil clearance on the connecting rods is correct and the "squirters" that supply oil to the rods above idle speed are aimed correctly. Babbit rod bearings are pretty rugged as long as they're lubed properly, and they aren't allowed to hammer themselves to death with excessive clearance. Drop the oil pan and inspect the crankshaft journals, and adjust the oil clearance with shims to .002" or slightly less. As long as the rod journals are smooth and round, and the rod clearance is right, drive on!
