Thanks for the reply.
I just went thru the whole fuel system.
*The tank was removed & flushed & painted,
*the hard line to the fuel pump flushed with new gas,
*same with the line to the carb.
*The carb was rebuilt, and a clear filter installed.
That's what clued me in to the problem.
The gas was just dribbling into the filter, not even filling it half way. The carb must be sucking the gas in rather than the pump creating pressure.
So I replaced the pump, with no change.
The motor bogs when you hit the gas-no pump shot.
I think it's just running on the venturies.
The auto supply I.D.'d the pump as a '54-'57 6 cyl pump, my motor is a '62, but I'm told the pump arms will all be the same for the old chevy 6's
I knew something wasn't right when there was no pressure on the fuel pump bolts during the install.
I will try re-installing, but the arm is short, I don't see how I could screw up engaging t he cam.
The general consensus is that the cam is worn.
If that's the case, I'll go with an electric pump.
I was just hoping to keep it original looking.
