If you've ever painted a car you know what a monumental project it. It's nothing but meticulous detail work requiring the closest attention to the smallest things. You can't miss anything because if you do it will come back to haunt you. Combine all of that with the fact that anyone you hire is not going to actually have to look at it every day, and they have to make money on the job and you can quickly see that perfection is expecting a lot.
Having said that, unless you are looking for a concourse finish you can paint your truck yourself for a LOT less and with today's paint and polishing systems it can turn out looking darned good.
