If your truck is "BACKFIRING" that means that ignition is occurring in one or more combustion chambers while an intake valve is either open or not sealing. This could be due to early timing, a sticking valve ("open" weak valve spring?), improper valve adjustment or a defective valve to valve seat seal (bent valve or scored valve face or seat).
