So I removed the stuck 216 from my '50 3/4 ton today to replace it with a 235. Problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to slide the circular part of the torque tube back. I unbolted everything, jacked the tranny up a little and slid the engine forward and out. Tranny is sitting there partially resting on the crossmember. This truck has the half TT, half open driveshaft with the bearing where they meet. I'm thinking that if I unbolt the bracket that this bearing is in, it should slide the circular ball like part of the TT back so I can undo the little u-joint and drop the tranny. Correct?
OR, after I put the bellhousing, flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch on the 235, would it be possible to slide the engine back in the way it came out? What do you guys do?
