Have u pulled the valve cover off to see if there isnt a cracked rod or lifter? Is there oil comin out of the exhaust pipe or manifold? if so they ur rings are fried. same thing happened to my 327 it sat for a year in some old 1 ton out in the trees. ran good until i put new gaskets and a few miles on it.
