I like to do it in the sun so the rubber is softer and pliable.
I put the trim in the groove after the rubber is on the windshield. Then use some masking tape on the windshield to hold the rubber and trim in place. Remove the tape as you install. Don't let your tools nick the edges of the windshield. Take your time and good luck.
