In reference to oil filters, thanks to Wrenchbender, I now know that my filter pot, which I assumed was a Fram is actually an A/C (5/8" top bolt). However, I am quite certain that I removed a FRAM filter and replaced it with the same.
My concern is that I've heard that it requires more oil pressure for pushing oil through the larger diameter filter and in my engine I want to maintain max pressure to my bearing surfaces. Am I possibly loosing additional pressure by running the Fram filter in the A/C pot? I've also been advised that plugging the filter (bypassing it) will give me 5-10 pounds additional pressure. At this point with my engine of unknown internal condition, I'd like to get some recommendations as to which way to go. I'm sure that there are others that are "between" complete rebuilds, who would appreciate some expert advice. Thanks in advance.
